Impact

The work of the Mieczkowski.Lab is driven by the need to translate complex biomedical data into insights that can inform real-world decisions.

We focus on applications where minimally invasive data can improve medical monitoring, risk assessment, and understanding of health under demanding conditions.

Where our
work matters

  1. Clinical relevance

Our research supports the development of computational approaches for medical diagnostics and longitudinal monitoring, particularly in settings where repeated and minimally invasive measurements are essential. By integrating molecular data, medical imaging, and clinical information, we aim to improve the assessment of treatment effects, disease progression, and therapy-related physiological burden.

  2. Health in demanding conditions

We study health-related effects of exposure to ionizing radiation and other extreme stressors, with a focus on understanding risk, long-term consequences, and variability in individual responses. This work is relevant to clinical medicine, radiation protection, and health monitoring in environments where direct or continuous clinical assessment is limited.

  3. Decision support through data integration

A central aspect of our work is the integration of heterogeneous biomedical data into coherent, interpretable models. By combining molecular profiles, imaging-derived features, and clinical context, we aim to move beyond isolated measurements toward data-driven support for medical and operational decision-making.

  4. Training and knowledge transfer

The lab is actively involved in training students and early-career researchers in interdisciplinary, project-based research. Through international collaborations and hands-on initiatives, we promote approaches that connect biomedical research with practical problem solving and real-world applications.

Research in the Mieczkowski.Lab is conducted in close connection with clinical practice and international research initiatives.
