1. Scope

This policy explains how personal data may be processed when you use mieczkowskilab.org, the website of Mieczkowski.Lab, a research group operating at the Medical University of Gdańsk. The website does not use a contact form, does not provide user accounts and does not sell products or services.

2. Data controller and Data Protection Officer

The controller is the Medical University of Gdańsk, ul. M. Skłodowskiej-Curie 3a, 80-210 Gdańsk, Poland. General contact: info@gumed.edu.pl. The Data Protection Officer can be contacted at iod@gumed.edu.pl or by post at the controller's address.

3. Data processed when the website is used

Technical and security data

The web server and hosting infrastructure may automatically process technical information such as an IP address, request date and time, requested resource, response status, browser and operating-system information, referring page and diagnostic data. This information is used to deliver the website, maintain availability, detect misuse and investigate technical or security incidents.

The legal basis is Article 6(1)(e) GDPR, where processing is necessary for tasks carried out in the public interest, and, where applicable, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, reflecting the legitimate interest in operating and securing the website.

Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics is loaded only after you actively accept optional analytics. It may process information about page views, sessions, approximate location, browser and device characteristics and interactions with the website. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics. Advertising personalisation and Google Signals are disabled in the website configuration.

The legal basis for analytics is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw consent at any time through “Cookie settings” in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

Email correspondence

Selecting the displayed email address opens your own email application; the website itself does not collect the message. When you send an email to compbio@gumed.edu.pl, the information contained in the message is processed within the Medical University of Gdańsk's email systems for the purpose of handling correspondence and any related matter. Do not send medical records, genetic data or other sensitive personal data unless this has been specifically requested through an appropriate secure channel.

4. Recipients and service providers

Personal data may be accessible, where necessary, to:

  • authorised personnel of the Medical University of Gdańsk;
  • cyber_Folks S.A., which provides website hosting and related infrastructure;
  • Google Ireland Limited and its subprocessors, but only when analytics consent has been granted;
  • technical service providers acting under appropriate contractual and confidentiality obligations;
  • public authorities where disclosure is required by law.

5. International data transfers

Use of Google Analytics may involve processing outside the European Economic Area. Where such transfers occur, Google applies the transfer mechanisms and safeguards described in its applicable data-processing terms. The website is configured to minimise analytics data and does not load Google Analytics before consent.

6. Retention

  • Technical server logs are retained only for periods necessary for operation, diagnostics and security, subject to the hosting configuration and applicable requirements.
  • Google Analytics user- and event-level retention will be configured to two months. Aggregated standard reports may remain available for longer.
  • Your analytics preference is stored locally in your browser until you change it or clear browser storage.
  • Email correspondence is retained according to the Medical University of Gdańsk's applicable correspondence and records-management rules.

7. Your rights

Subject to the conditions of the GDPR, you may request access to your personal data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability where applicable, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent at any time. Requests concerning data controlled by the Medical University of Gdańsk may be sent to iod@gumed.edu.pl.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland.

8. Automated decisions

The website does not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

9. External websites

The website contains links to third-party services and institutions. Their own privacy policies apply after you follow those links.

10. Changes

This policy may be updated when the website, service providers or legal requirements change. The current version and update date will remain available on this page.
