PhD Candidate
Adrian Kacperczyk-Perdyan
Physician-scientist and clinical oncology resident working at the interface of oncology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. His research combines single-cell, spatial transcriptomic, and epigenomic approaches to investigate tumour evolution, metastasis, and treatment response. He is also interested in understanding the molecular consequences of environmental and space-related stressors, with the aim of translating complex multi-omics data into biologically and clinically meaningful insights.

Urszula Ławrynowicz
Molecular biologist and medical laboratory diagnostician with a PhD in Immunology. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cellular responses to environmental and genetic stressors, with particular emphasis on ionizing and space radiation. She combines advanced genomics, epigenetics, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, and NGS technologies to investigate gene regulation and chromatin dynamics. Her work also explores liquid biopsy approaches and patient-derived three-dimensional (3D) organoid models to develop clinically relevant biomarkers and experimental platforms. She is interested in translating molecular discoveries into innovative diagnostic tools and advancing research at the interface of radiation biology, precision medicine, and space biomedicine.

Computational biologist with a background spanning mathematics, molecular biology, and medical sciences. His research explores how subtle molecular and imaging-derived signals can be used to infer health status, treatment effects, and long-term biological consequences of stress and exposure. He is also engaged in international, interdisciplinary initiatives that connect biomedical research with a strong interest in translating complex biomedical data into tools that matter beyond the laboratory, and in creating interdisciplinary environments for early-career researchers.

Łukasz Szydłowski
Computational biologist with a background spanning molecular biology, biotechnology, and bioelectrochemistry. He explored how microbial communities generate clean power while treating waste, and how their genomes and transcriptomes encode electrogenic and communicative behavior. He later turned his attention to the human gut microbiome, using functional annotation to infer how microbial function relates to host health and long-term physiological consequences of diet and exposure. He is also engaged in international, interdisciplinary initiatives that connect microbiology with space biomedicine, co-founding a startup to translate microbial consortia design into bioproduction tools for the Moon and Mars.
Administrative Officer
Agata Wojdak
Administrative Coordinator supporting the management and implementation of multidisciplinary research projects conducted within the group. She is responsible for coordinating administrative processes related to research initiatives, including project documentation, financial coordination, reporting procedures, and communication with institutional units and external partners. Her work ensures the efficient execution of research projects and provides organizational support for the development of an interdisciplinary research environment.
PhD Candidate
Ayşe Yigit
PhD candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a research interest in genetics, epigenetics, and radiation biology. Her work combines experimental and computational approaches to investigate gene regulation and cellular responses to radiation. She has extensive experience in primary cell culture, flow cytometry, stem cell biology, and multi-omics techniques, including transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses. Her computational research focuses on the analysis and integration of genomics and epigenomics data using bioinformatics tools to better understand molecular regulatory mechanisms.
PhD Candidate
Julia Zakaszewska
PhD student in machine learning with a background in mathematics, giving her a strong foundation in statistics and methodology. Her research focuses on cell-free DNA (cfDNA) sequenced with Oxford Nanopore technology, analyzing fragmentomic and epigenetic features to build machine learning models for disease detection. She is applying these methods to glioma detection, developing pipelines and classification models that translate molecular signals into clinically relevant predictions. Her expertise includes statistical modeling and validation.
